Wellens heads UAE Team Emirates for Renewi Tour

From 28 August to 1 September, UAE Team Emirates return to racing on the roads of Belgium and Holland for their next World Tour fixture – the Renewi Tour.

The race will be run over five stages, including a time trial, on roads often graced by the spring classics with the final day finishing in Geerardsbergen. There to challenge for the crown will be the classics specialist duo of Nils Politt and defending champion Tim Wellens.

Wellens: “The Renewi Tour is always a race I look forward to. In the past I’ve had some great results there most recently last year with the victory.Now in Renewi I think the TT will be very important along with the stage in Geraadsbergen. Poland has been good for the confidence, especially when I won the TT, and I hope to continue that form this week.”

The team will operate under the guidance of Sports Directors Fabio Baldato (Ita) and Marco Marzano (Ita).
