Ulissi takes final podium at Tour of Poland

Italian 2nd overall behind Vingegaard

Diego Ulissi finished off a strong week of racing at the Tour of Poland defending his 2nd place overall behind race winner Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-LAB).

The final stage on Sunday was a flat one from Wieliczka to Krakow which ended in a sprint won by Olav Kooij (Visma LAB).

Rafal Majka climbed the podium as best Polish rider and Ulissi also took home the Sprint Jersey competition.

Ulissi : “Obviously I would have loved to have won a stage but young Nys was really strong this week so congrats to him. In terms of the GC result I’m really happy, I didn’t expect to go quite as well as I did and I’m really pleased with that and how the team supported me. My next goals will be the one-day races at the end of the year in Italy so I’ll hope to finish the season strongly.”

Meanwhile at the Vuelta España Brandon McNulty relinquished the red jersey to Wout Van Aert (Visma LAB) who gained enough bonus seconds in the bunch sprint on stage 2 from Cascais to Ourém (194km) to leap ahead of the American who now sits in 2nd.
