UAE Team Emirates for Paris-Roubaix
After a hugely successful start to the year for UAE Team Emirates, the team slowly makes the transition from the Flanders Classics to the Ardennes in Belgium, starting with De Brabantse Pijl (13 April) before heading across the French border for the legendary race labelled ‘The Hell of the North’ : Paris-Roubaix (17 April).
Matteo Trentin will go into both races as team captain with the in-form Marc Hirschi hotly tipped for De Brabantse Pijl after his recent top-10 at Amstel Gold.
Trentin: “ My shape is back close to where it needs to be and I think as a team we can be competitive in these next races.
Amstel was a really hard race but we can take a lot of positives from it. Marc Hirschi has shown he is back close to his top level so I think for Brabantse Pijl the goal will be for us to be there deep in the final and play our cards.
For Paris-Roubaix we all know it’s really a test of attrition and can be quite unpredictable so we’ll aim to be aggressive.”
Sports Director Aart Vierhouten (Ned) will take charge for De Brabantse Pijl and will be joined by Fabio Baldato (Ita) and Marco Marcato (Ita) for Paris-Roubaix.
