UAE Team Emirates finish 2024 with top-5 in Veneto and Guangxi
Hirschi 4th in Veneto, Sivakov 5th overall in Guangxi
Marc Hirschi signed off his UAE racing career with 4th place at the Veneto Classic in Italy today.
On the final day of the European road racing season, Magnus Cort (Uno X) took the win from the breakaway with Hirschi forming an elite group behind which also included the podium finishers Romain Gregoire (Groupama FDJ) and Xandro Meurisse (Alpecin Deceuninck).
The Swiss puncheur finishes his time at UAE with 21 victories to his name.
Hirschi: “It would have been nice to take a win on my last race in UAE colours but I was just missing a little bit in the final today. It’s been a long but also a very successful season. I’ll head into the off-season now looking back on not just an amazing season but an amazing journey with this team which has been my home for the past 4 seasons.”
Meanwhile in China, Pavel Sivakov cemented his 5th place overall at the Tour of Guangxi which concluded on stage 6 in Nanning (134km). The final stage was won in a sprint by Matevž Govekar (Bahrain Victorious) as UAE Team Emirates stepped up to the podium for the final time this season to take the team prize.
