UAE Team Emirates will be among the teams lining up for the first edition of the Adriatica Ionica Race, a new, (2.1 category) international race, scheduled from June 20 to 24.
The riders will take on five stages, all on Italian territory: the opening will feature a 23.6 km team time trial; the day of the 3rd fraction will be decisive, with the start from Mussolente and arrival on the summit of Passo Giau after challenging climbs over Passo Rolle and Passo Valles.
The seven riders wearing the UAE Team Emirates uniform will be:
– Darwin Atapuma (Colombia)
– Simone Consonni (Italy)
– Valerio Conti (Italy)
– Manuele Mori (Italy)
– Simone Petilli (Italy)
– Edward Ravasi (Italy)
– Ben Swift (United Kingdom)
The team will be led by Marco Marzano (Italy) and Paolo Tiralongo (Italy).
Valerio Conti talked about his ambitions for the race: “I am very motivated; I really want to try to achieve some good results for the team.
After strenuous efforts in the Giro d’Italia and the Criterium du Dauphiné, I’m trying to prepare a balanced approach to the Adriatica Ionica Race, recuperating energy but at the same time maintaining the good form I enjoyed on the roads of Italy and France.
I’ll see how my legs respond after the first stages and then I’ll consult with the team to consider whether or not there are circumstances in place to vie for the top spots in the general classification, or if it will be better to concentrate on individual stages.”
