Molano takes top-5 in Trofeo Palma
5th for Colombian in final test of Mallorca Challenge
UAE Team Emirates finished the Mallorca Challenge with 5th place for Sebastian Molano in a tight sprint at the Trofeo Palma (141km).
The team was present at the front of the peloton on the closing circuits on the seafront of Palma, dictating the pace as the kilometres ticked off.
Molano took the wheel of Biniam Girmay (Intermarche-Wanty) on the final corner at -1km but couldn’t come around in the sprint as Ethan Vernon (Soudal-Quickstep) took the win.
The race brings the curtain down on the Challenge Mallorca with the team in action at the Saudi Tour starting tomorrow in Alula.
Sebastian Molano : “The legs were good but I was just a bit out of position in the final straight. The team did good work but we started our leadout very early, maybe we should have left it a lap later but it’s early in the season and these details are still coming together. It’s been a tough week here with the cold and rain but we’re focused now on the races to come.”
