Molano sprints to top-5 in Pologne opener
Colombian shows good return to racing
Sebastian Molano put in a fast finish to take fifth place on stage 1 of the Tour de Pologne which began in Poland today.
A large crash in the finale ruled several sprinters out of the dash for the line which was won by Olav Kooij (Jumbo Visma) who becomes the first race leader.
Molano: “It was a hard stage especially in the last kilometres where there was constant pressure being put on the front. There was a crash near the finish which changed the dynamic of the sprint a bit but I was happy enough with the result. I had good legs but was just missing that extra bit of sharpness from not racing. Tomorrow we will go again for the sprint with myself and Ackermann.”
Tomorrow the Tour de Pologne continues with Stage 2 from Chelm to Zamosc (203km).
