Molano podiums on final day of AlUla Tour
Colombian just sprints short of victory on final day in Saudi
UAE Team Emirates-XRG concluded the AlUla Tour with a third place by Sebastian Molano in a fast sprint which saw the Colombian come within inches of taking his first win of 2025.
Stage 5 to the AlUla Camel Cup Track was won by the Italian Matteo Moschetti (Q.36 Pro Cycling) who outsprinted Molano and Dylan Groenewegen (Jayco AlUla) to add to the overall victory of Tom Pidcock (Q.36 Pro Cycling).
Molano had a strong leadout on the final straight courtesy of Ivo Oliveira who delivered the flying Colombian to 250m to go. However Moschetti and Groenewegen would prove a few inches faster on the line.
Molano : “Credit to the team and especially to Ivo (Oliveira) today. It was a hard day out there with the wind and the group that came to the line was very small.
I was placed perfectly for the sprint but just got swamped a bit on the line. No regrets, I gave it everything. I’m taking the good shape and the positives from the week into the next races where I hope to get my name on the board for a win.”
