McNulty shines in Catalunya TT

4th for American in Banyoles, now 2nd on GC

Brandon McNulty showed his pedigree against the clock with a solid 4th place performance in the 18.4km stage 2 time trial at the Vuelta Catalunya.

With an average speed of 48.4kmph the 22 year old stopped the clock 29’’ behind the stage winner, former World Champion Rohan Dennis (Ineos Grenadiers).

McNulty now sits just 1’’ off the overall lead in 2nd place behind new race leader Joao Almeida (Deceuninck-Quickstep) heading into stage 3 tomorrow from Canal Olimpic de Catalunya to Vallter 2000 (203.1k), which is set to be a decisive day for the GC.

McNulty: “Today was another good TT for me, I’m happy with how it went. To get this result in a World Tour TT is always a good sign. The next few days will be the real test of the legs, so I’m looking forward to that. I live pretty close so I know the roads around this region pretty well which is a bonus.
