The national champion’s jersey escaped from Filippo Ganna’s grasp by a mere two seconds. He tried everything possible, but Gianni Moscon succeeded in defending his 2017 title today

“I began very strongly, I held it well in the middle part of the course and I closed still on the rise,” Ganna said.” It wasn’t enough. Nothing’s left to do but complement Gianni, who went very fast. I’m happy with my showing today. We studied well the parcours and, with the directors, we managed it well.
“I’m sorry I was not able to win. I would’ve wanted to give the team a good result and a winning memory.”
