Gallery: Santos Tour Down Under 2025
UAE Team Emirates-XRG won the first WorldTour stage race of the season through Jhonatan Narváez, and we have compiled the best photos from the event
A week on from the finish of the 2025 Santos Tour Down Under, UAE Team Emirates-XRG’s seven-rider team is strung across the globe once more. From Spain to Ecuador, a winning team has their sights set on new goals. But for three glorious weeks in January, they shared the same ambition: winning the Tour Down Under.
Heading to the race with Jay Vine and Jhonatan Narváez leading the line, there was a certain optimisim that UAE Team Emirates-XRG could grab the race by the scruff of the neck, and so it proved. Over the race’s six stages, there wasn’t a day that went by without a black and white shirt towards the front of proceedings, and this effort paid off with Narváez’s stage-winning sprint atop Willunga Hill on stage 5.
Taking the ochre jersey on Australia’s most iconic climb, the Ecuadorian national champion was able to finish the job on the final stage and take the team’s first GC victory of the campaign.
But none of it would have been possible without the support of his teammates. The aforementioned Vine proved the perfect foil against their rivals, whilst Marc Soler and young Pablo Torres animated the race with a series of attacks. In the engine room, Julius Johansen and Rune Herregodts produced the goods, and Olympic track champion Rui Oliveira was worth his weight in gold, taking a pair of top 10s and positioning Narváez well to take bonus seconds.
For all of the success on the bike, however, the Tour Down Under was a trip enjoyed just as much for its sense of camaraderie off the bike. With four new signings in the group and a new country to explore for most, the almost three weeks Down Under presented UAE Team Emirates-XRG with the perfect opportunity to bond. Between café stops in Uraidla, rainy walks in Singapore and shared celebrations after the race, this once unfamiliar group became a family.
Along the way, there were more than enough cameras to capture the trip’s best moments. UAE Team Emirates-XRG videographer Filippo Barcatta can always be relied upon behind the lens, whilst this year, the team also took an alternate approach to shooting the scene. Between Rui Oliveira, Marc Soler and the team’s media staff, UAE Team Emirates-XRG were armed with two disposable cameras and a 1990s point and shoot.
Over the course of 20 days on the road, they captured this memorable trip on 35mm film.
Now a week on from our Tour Down Under success, and with the trophy safely back at the team base, all that is left to do now is to compile our race gallery. Between digital and film photography, enjoy our look back at the 2025 Tour Down Under.
