All systems go for UAE Team Emirates at Il Lombardia
Team head for Milano-Torino and Gran Piemonte in build-up
As the 2021 season draws to a close, attention will turn to Il Lombardia on 9 October as ‘the race of the falling leaves’ marks the most important of the Autumn classics. The team will also take on the semi-classics Milano-Torino on October 6 and Gran Piemonte on October 7.
The squad will go into Lombardia with several options with Pogačar, Hirschi and local riders Ulissi and Formolo all capable of a big result on the roads from Como to Bergamo.
Pogačar: “It’s going to be my first Lombardia. We did the recon and it’s a beautiful place, with hard roads. It will be a tough race, that’s for sure. I feel like it’s a beautiful way to end what has been a really great season.”
