Meintjes 20th in Spain
Louis Meintjes ranked twentieth, getting the finish line in the main group with 38” of gap from the breakaway, in the “Clasica di San Sebastian”, a one day World Tour race held in the Basque Region in Spain.
After an initial attempt at a long break by seven men, the race got fired up with 41 km left to go until the finish line when, once the first group got caught, eleven men took off strong on the Alto de Arkal. This break then selected the five pacemakers who vied to be first in the sprinting arrival. Victory went to Poland’s Michal Kwiatkowski (Sky) who beat Tony Gallopin (Fra) Lotto Soudal and Bauke Mollema (Ned) Trek-Segafredo in that order.
